This kayak rental facility, located on Copenhagen’s harbor, was designed to provide public recreation space that could be used year round. This was achieved through the varying degrees of enclosure and diversification of program. While during the summer kayaks would be in the water and people would be soaking up sun on the wooden decks, in the winter the splash pool would transform into an ice rink. This functionality is a direct response to Denmark’s varied climatic conditions.
